DEAN SMITH:  HEAD PT & OWNER FITNESS@SUMMERS PARK

I’m a fully qualified and registered with REPS (Register of Exercise professionals) level 2 Fitness instructor, level 3 Personal trainer and hold a level 3 Diploma in Exercise referral, this enables me to work with clients with specific medical issues not covered by a regular PT. Such as Diabetes, obesity, depression & anxiety, arthritis, osteoporosis, asthma, Obesity, COPD, Lower back issues, High blood pressure etc. I also work with clients wanting to take their training to the next level, either sports specific or simply to raise the intensity and improve results.

I’ve been training for over 30 years, and have been training clients for 15 years. A keen powerlifter and natural bodybuilder in my own right, I’ve worked all over the world with” A” list musicians and DJ, s, MMA fighters and athletes up to national and Olympic level. I’m very experienced in all aspects of diet and nutrition, strength and conditioning as well as the phycology and mind set of the training experience.

I’ve been running my own Personal training business Syner-Chi:Fitness for nearly 5 years. I look forward to working with all my existing and new clients at our brand-new facility. I offer 1-1 or small group training. I’m planning on developing and delivering small group powerlifting/compound movement seminars and workshops in the near future, running out of our state-of-the-art training facility. I always offer a free consultation to discuss my client’s goals, medical background and availability prior to any training commencement.

Shaun johnston:  Fitness Instructor

I have a degree based around sports and exercise science and have spent time developing my skills in the fitness and leisure industries for the past 14 years. I have a true passion for sport and have played rugby as well as coaching both rugby and football. These experiences have taken me onwards to the path of working specifically within the fitness industry as I have realised how conditioning is not only key to performance but also to injury prevention and rehabilitation. It can also be such a key influencer in positive mental health and general achievement of a healthy active lifestyle. I have a passion for working with others and thoroughly enjoy the challenges individuals present with their goals.

I have worked with Dean since he returned to the UK and more specifically since he opened the facility, he has helped me develop my skills and strengthen my knowledge within training which has enabled me to push further into this field. We share a common philosophy of striving to deliver high quality sessions to all involved whilst providing a facility that meets the high expectations of clients.

I have trained sporadically since the age of 14, and have now really began to dial in on my own training for the past 2 years. I enjoy using the gym as an escape from the day to day stress that work and life provide. As I work to meet my personal goals, I want to help others along their journey to find their own success.

freya pearson:  fitness instructor

I am a qualified Fitness Instructor and have a short period of study and exams before I am a fully qualified Personal Trainer. As my day job, I am an Occupational Therapist working for the busy NHS in a crisis response service. I work with older adults, typically with complex medical backgrounds and I support them to stay out of hospital. I enjoy the unpredictability, problem solving and close work with my patients. My job has really laid the foundations for entering the Personal Training world. Outside of work and the gym I am a keen walker and tour UK and Europe with my partner on our motorbike.

I have been training for 10years in various gyms and fitness centres. This has involved training alone, in group settings and with different personal trainers so have a good understanding of the obstacles and barriers one can face when entering a fitness space- both as a novice and experienced gym goer.

I believe in taking a holistic approach to fitness. Not just focussing on aesthetic goals but mental wellbeing, exercise as stress reliever, benefits on work/sleeping patterns and how regular movement can have a positive impact on existing health conditions. I am excited to introduce prospective clients to the benefits of strength training. Gaining strength and learning new techniques can benefit anyone of any age and make you feel unstoppable!

I always offer a 1:1 initial free consultation to discuss medical background, exercise history and to set specific goals for your fitness journey. I am looking forward to welcoming existing and new clients to the Fitness@Summers Park family.

Robyn Chapman:  PERSONAL TRAINER

I am a qualified level 2 Fitness Instructor and level 3 Personal Trainer. I currently work as a Health and Well-being coach for a company delivering the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme. This has given me a huge insight into creating healthy habits, focusing on nutrition and getting people moving.

Previously, I have gained several sports coaching qualifications including my level 3 Sports Leaders, Level 3 Diploma in Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness, gymnastics coaching and more. My background of sport began when I started gymnastics at the age of 6! It became a passion of mine and I coached the sport for just under 5 years.

I also worked previously in a leading health club where I taught fitness classes, took 1:1 gym inductions and taster sessions. I am a keen gym goer myself, I am passionate about strength training and love to share my knowledge with others to help them achieve their fitness goals. I use my background knowledge and experience of gymnastics to provide you with a variety of stretches that will help to aid your recovery and mobility.

I believe the key to success with training is to find the type of exercise you enjoy. This makes training more enjoyable and much easier to stick to, leading to long term results. It’s all about setting a good foundation in terms of your lifestyle, nutrition and healthy habits. This will help to create a healthier you, mentally and physically! I’m here to take the thinking part of exercising away from you so you can get the most out of every session.

Paul Richardson:  personal trainer

Hi, I’m Paul Richardson. I retired five years ago after 30 years service as a Police officer.

I started teaching in 2015 having qualified as a gym instructor. In 2019 I decided to qualify as a personal trainer and started teaching one to one.

My background is in Rugby and athletics. Both of which I was lucky enough to compete in to a high level. I have also coached and officiated both sports in the past.
I love identifying what people want to achieve from a fitness programme, and helping them achieve it with hard work and a lot of fun. The ethos behind Fitness at Summers park is very much in line with my own. My favourite quote being from the author Terry Pratchett:-

“If you trust in yourself…and believe in your dreams…and follow your star…you’ll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren’t so lazy.”

I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your health and fitness goals.
